Chanticleer Monday, May 3, 2010 7:30 pm St. Philip Neri Church Tuesday, May 4, 2010 7:30 pm Called “the world’s reigning male chorus,” by the New Yorker magazine, Chanticleer has developed a remarkable reputation for its vivid interpretations of vocal literature, from Renaissance to jazz, and from gospel to venturesome new music. With its seamless blend of twelve male voices, ranging from countertenor to bass, the ensemble is praised for their “tonal luxuriance and crisply etched clarity” and was named Musical America’s 2008 “Ensemble of the Year.”
Monday, May 3 program: An all-sacred program in the stunning acoustic setting of St. Philip Neri Church. Tuesday, May 4 program: "In Time of . . . Songs of love & loss, war & peace" In 2009-10, its 32nd season, Chanticleer will reflect on the most profound experiences touching all of us — love and loss, war and peace — letting some of the repertoire’s most beautiful music by Tavener, Janequin, Palestrina, Sametz, McGlynn and others, old and new, give us inspiration and optimism. Generously sponsored by: Richard Louis Brown
