Spend a fun and educational afternoon with Katherine Cole, wine columnist for the FoodDay section of The Oregonian, and for MIX, Portland's magazine for food and drink. Gain knowledge about sparkling wine and try identifying some in a "blind tasting" game. Discover flavors you like, ask about wine and food pairings, learn about affordable wines and seasonal imbibing. Katherine will share wine wisdom and answer questions. Duo Adams-Mery

Duo Adams-Mery is a flute and classical guitar duo that has been performing together for nearly ten years.John Mery received his M.M. in guitar performance from the University of Arizona where he studied under Thomas Patterson. He has participated in master classes with many of today's most prominent guitarists including: Christopher Parkening, Oscar Ghilia, David Russel, Abel Carlevaro and Carlo Barone.  In 1993 Mr. Mery won the Schaeffer memorial guitar competition. He has given concerts in Europe and throughout the Western United States.  Mr. Mery currently heads the music program at Portland Community College - Sylvania Campus. Jas. Adams first studied flute while attending Reed College, where he helped start a Young Audience group, playing Renaissance period instruments for local school children.  He later studied flute with Roger Rostron of the Hallé Orchestra.  Mr. Adams has performed on baroque and modern flute in chamber music recitals and concerts in the Pacific Northwest, Bay Area, and abroad.
