RISING STAR    Event to be rescheduled, date TBA

(Originally scheduled) Saturday, March 13, 2010    7:30 pm

Mary A. Tooze   30 guests    $75

Mary Tooze has helped launch the careers of many fine, young artists over the years. Come hear Natalie Gunn, one of the most talented up-and-coming vocalists in our community, along with Michael Barnes on piano, at one of Mary’s popular soirees. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will follow this entrancing performance with classic songs by Rossini, Mozart, Handel, and Debussy, as well as lyric American songs by Weill, Duke, Dougherty, Hoiby, and Laitman

More details:

Soprano Natalie Gunn is an exceptional young talent from the Pacific Northwest. Her clear, beautiful voice and intelligent artistry bring colorful interpretations to the concert and opera stages. In 2008 she was a winner in the National Opera Association's Artists Competition and the Northwest Regional NATS Artist Award Competition.

Michael Barnes has been collaborating with singers since his high school days in Seattle, Washington. He is the award-winning accompanist of the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus (with whom he has also appeared as vocal soloist and accordionist), Pacific Youth Choir, Bravo Vancouver, Lewis & Clark College, Portland State University and with the Old Church Society, for whom he schedules their Sack Lunch Recitals. He is the organist of Westminster Presbyterian Church and assists at Temple Beth Israel and 6th Church of Christ Scientist.

Mary Tooze's home is located on S.W. Hewitt Boulevard, approximately 10 minutes from downtown Portland.
