Betty Cramer Perkins   10 guests    $75

Legendary former FOCM president Betty Perkins is renowned for her brownies as well as her leadership. Perched in The Heights at Terwilliger Plaza, you’ll delight in one of Betty’s celebrated dinners and a concert of dazzling violin music by Kuni Nishitani. You might even hear a juicy story or two from FOCM’s 70-year history!

More details:

Kunito (Kuni) Nishitani, violinist and conductor, started his study of the violin at the age of six in Japan. He received training from Yoshinobu Morisue and Professor Chikashi Tanaka, soloist and concertmaster of the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the most prestigious orchestra in Tokyo. Kuni made a sensational debut in Portland, Oregon in 2002 playing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Beaverton Chamber Symphony Orchestra. In September 2002 he enrolled at Portland State University where he studied on a music scholarship with the celebrated violinist Carol Sindell. Kuni was also the recipient of a Friends of Chamber Music scholarship in 2004. In June 2007, Kuni graduated from Portland State University and was accepted at New York University as one of a few select students of Martin Beaver, first violinist of the Tokyo Quartet. He graduated from NYU in 2009, and is currently living in Portland where he is teaching and performing.

Betty Cramer Perkins was an active Friends of Chamber Music Board member for more than two decades and was President for nine years. A piano performance major in college, Betty was a music teacher and organist/choir director for 18 years. She is now one of Terwilliger Plaza's liveliest residents and continues to be a staunch supporter of FOCM.
