Perched in The Heights at Terwilliger Plaza, you’ll delight in one of Betty’s celebrated dinners and a concert of dazzling violin music by Kuni Nishitani. You might even hear a juicy story or two from FOCM’s 70-year history! More details: Kunito (Kuni) Nishitani,violinist and conductor, started his study of the violin at the age of six in Japan. He received training from Yoshinobu Morisue and Professor Chikashi Tanaka, soloist and concertmaster of the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the most prestigious orchestra in Tokyo. Kuni made a sensational debut in Portland, Oregon in 2002 playing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Beaverton Chamber Symphony Orchestra. In September 2002 he enrolled at Portland State University where he studied on a music scholarship with the celebrated violinist Carol Sindell. Kuni was also the
Betty Cramer Perkins was an active Friends of Chamber Music Board member for more than two decades and was President for nine years. A piano performance major in college, Betty was a music teacher and organist/choir director for 18 years. She is now one of Terwilliger Plaza's liveliest residents and continues to be a staunch supporter of FOCM. |
