IF MUSIC BE THE FOOD OF LOVE, PLAY ON

Saturday, February 6, 2010    6:00 pm

Bill Crane & Peggie Schwarz   12 guests    $125

Move over William Shakespeare! Make room for Bill Crane serving a gourmet feast at the Trotman house. Enter stage right, the superbly talented Peggie Schwarz  performing Cycle of Love - songs by Adams, Copland and Weill, accompanied by who else but Mr. Crane.

More details:

Bill Crane will act as chef for this event which will take place at the gorgeous home of Robert Trotman and Bill Hetzelson in the Kings Hill neighborhood in downtown Portland. Schwarz and Crane will present Cycle of Love, a sassy but poignant set of Cabaret songs by Aaron Copland, John Adams and Kurt Weill.

While many Portlanders know of Peggie Schwarz’s tireless work in arts administration (Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Oregon Symphony and currently Mazamas, the Mountaineering education organization), this event is a rare opportunity to see the singer Peggie Schwarz.

Bill Crane, a development professional and musician in Portland for nearly two decades, joined the Oregon Symphony staff in June as director of major gifts. Crane’s lengthy career as an arts administrator and non-profit fundraiser has included senior positions with the Confluence Project, Oregon Council for the Humanities, Court-Appointed Special Advocates for Children Inc., Portland State University, the Saturday Academy and Portland Baroque Orchestra – all in the Portland metro area – and, before that, with the American Symphony Orchestra League in Washington, D.C. Crane is also an organist and choir director. In March 2009 he joined with Pink Martini leader Thomas Lauderdale to produce “24/7,” a highly acclaimed 24-hour-long marathon concert in Portland marking the seventh anniversary of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
